I want a lavender field next to my house. The more lavender, the better I would feel! But It wasn't always like that.

It's a funny story but with a life lesson. When I was a teenager I read in a magazine about magical effect of taking a bath with lavender oil. As I would imagine that would be such a cool thing to tell my friends and acquaintances that lavender bath is my regular daily routine. I thought it would make me more interesting I guess.

On the occasion I bought a little bottle of Lavender Oil and anxiously waited when I could use that magical concoction. One day I filled a bath with hot water and added 10
drops of lavender oil. Then I thought that 5-10 drops are nothing for the full bath of water. So I dropped 10 more, and 10 more and just to make sure it would be magical added 10 more.

Emerged myself in the water to enjoy my aromatherapy but not for long though, believe me. I jumped out of it within 5 minutes with nauseated feelings and strong desire never use lavender oil again. It was magical, alright! It took me long time to overcome my aroma overdose, forget it, and than fall in love with lavender fragrance again.

I grow my own lavender on my backyard. Every year I buy different sorts of lavender and try to save and preserve it for winter time. But up to date, my attempts haven't been successful yet. I love to see and smell lavender when I spend time on my backyard. I like different kinds - English, Spanish but my most favorite of all is the French one, called Provence. I wish I could attach fragrance of Provence lavender for you to sense it but unfortunately technology is not there yet.
Flowers may be dried and crushed to use in sachets. I usually dry it with stems to add it in the boiling water in winter time to add more humidity to dry home air. The smell in the whole house is divine.

Provenance lavender could be used in cooking as well. I haven’t done yet since I have never tried anything edible with lavender fragrance without strongly reminder of soap. I do have intentions to try it in iced tea. I promise I will share my experience.
I used lavender oil to cure a burn, it works magically, also its a perfect remedy if you have a headache, one drop on the wrist will help you too.

Since I don't have lavender field next to me, I always loved my annual visits to lavender farm in Long Island called Lavender by The Bay. Family farm grown over the years and unfortunately now they are not allowed to cut lavender bouquet by yourself, as they used to do it before, since the place became tourists Mecca.

If you want to experience the magic of lavender and great photo opportunity I would highly recommend to visit this place. You won't regret it!
In my rating Lavender By The Bay is must to visit place!
